Street wear brand Any Forty, has been collaborating with some of the best UK street and graphic artists over the last couple of years, producing 3 collections of rock solid t-shirt designs.

Any Forty's Versus collections are always produced in strictly limited editions, but this season they're revisiting some of their most popular designs and re-fixing them for a new audience - it's a great opportunity for those of you just discovering the range to get your hands on their sold-out designs from the Any Forty vaults in great new colourways.

But which ones to choose? That's where you guys come in. Head on over to the Any Forty blog and let them know which designs you want to see refixed for spring/summer 2011.

We've been stocking Any Forty's last two collections, and they've always sold really well - one of top sellers has been 45RPM - so we'd love to see that one refixed, and also the Hydro 74 design is awesome, but the boys that come into our store have been put off a bit by the hot pink - in a toned down colour this t-shirt would be hot hot hot! Also we got in on the Any Forty act during versus 2 range, so we'd love to get our hands on any refixed t-shirts from the versus 1 range.

Here at Forty Five we celebrate individual style and we always like to offer our lovely customers and friends an alternative to chain stores and mass produced items. Job Description

Forty Five Clothing is an independent clothing store that has been established in Plymouth for the last 4 years. The business has recently evolved to include a vintage clothing store and has expanded the screen print side of the business, Custom Sign and Print. As such a vacancy exists for a Screen Print Apprentice to join the company at a very exciting time.

The Screen Print Apprentice will work full-time for the company in the screen print area of the business. In addition, the apprentice will work towards a Machine Printing (Screen) Apprenticeship with Plymouth College of Art. This will be delivered via onsite assessments and monthly attendance at taught sessions at the College. Attendance at Plymouth College of Art will also be required occasionally for periodic examinations.

This vacancy will suit someone with a passion for design and print. Successful candidates will be practical, with a keen eye for detail and an appreciation of the importance of quality and consistency. A working knowledge of Photoshop software would be beneficial. As you will be working with machinery, an understanding of the need for safe working practices is essential. You will work closely with the business owners, receiving supervision and training, yet be able to demonstrate initiative. You will be required to respond to enquiries in a customer focussed business and therefore it is essential that you possess excellent communication skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to gain screen print knowledge and experience, and a print industry recognised qualification.

'When we design the dresses, tops and skirts we are influenced by vintage shapes, vintage fabrics, and we do our best to seek out the most adorable prints. We treasure prints with vintage styled florals, sweet heart chiffon prints and bows bows bows (we cannot get enough bows!!). We aim to carry two kinds of ranges - one for the daytime - an over cute range utilsing floral jerseys and cotton - floral prints and bow embellished knits, and a evening range - chiffons and lace - a sexier more sophisticated look - toned down prints, nude colours.'

Student Model Search 2010/2011

We've got a sneaky feeling that this years model search is going to be bigger and better than ever!

The top 10 male and top 10 female entrants will go through to the semi-final, with the public voting for the top five male and top five female entrants, all of whom will be invited to a fashion shoot and judges will then decide on the final male and female winners. Prizes include free clothes amongst other things and the chance to star in your very own 247 Magazine fashion shoot!

The Student Model Search is being held in conjunction with:

Designers Society Competition - see your t-shirt design on sale in Forty Five!

Plymouth University's Designers Society in partnership with Forty Five, is bringing you a fantastic opportunity to see your t-shirt design go on sale at Forty Five.

To enter, all you have to do is design a t-shirt based on this year's theme of Nature vs Technology. The winner will have their tee printed and sold in the Forty Five store, and will receive a percentage of the profits, plus a bunch of t-shrits printed with their winning design to give to friends, simples! Not to mention having a great portfolio piece of course.

How to enter:

Entries must be submitted as a printed t-shirt, please note sketches or electronic files will not be accepted. You can print the t-shirts yourselves, or use the printing services at Forty Five. We will be judging the design, and not the printing quality!

The winning design will be screen printed at Forty Five and go on sale in the Forty Five store and www.fortyfiveclothing.com

Since the last Frock Exchange was such a sucess at Plymouths central library they've decided to do another and this time they have asked us to get involved! We will be there selling our large selection of lovely vintage clothing and accessories alongside:

We are very excited to be co-organising Plymouth's first ever vintage and handmade fair along with our friends at online vintage store - The Little Deer. Join us at Bette Noir's at St Matthias church hall (just off North Hill, Plymouth) from 11.30am til 4.30pm on Saturday 2nd October.

Yesterday at Forty Five we were very excited to receive our first drop of autumn 2010 stock from Emily and Fin.

The first of many new deliveries, this one has a definate autumnal feel. The dresses are equally as beautiful as ever but rather than creating a feel of long summer days and picnics in the park, these dresses have us feeling all warm and cosy inside. They make us want to wrap up in a chunky knitted cardi and sheep skin lined boots sitting in a warm coffee shop sipping good coffee!

Just got back from a buying trip to London!

Design a t-shirt competition

We've teamed up with the Plymouth University based Designers Society to run a t-shirt design competition.

After the success of their poster competion back in January, the t-shirt competition will give you the opportunity to see your t-shirt on sale in Forty Five! [with you getting a percentage of the profits too]

The theme of the competition is 'Open', so interpret this how you will, and we will look forward to seeing what you come up with.

To enter, you need to submit a t-shirt printed with your design to the Designers Society or into Forty Five on or before 14th May - please note this deadline has been extended from the previous deadlin of 7th May.

You can print your own t-shirt, or pop in to Forty Five to get it printed by us ~ we're offering a special deal of £9.99 per t-shirt, including the t-shirt.

Brat and Suzie ~ new concession in store...

We're very excited to announce our latest in-store concession at Forty Five >>> Brat and Suzie.

If you haven't come into contact with their fab designs then here's what you need to know...Brat and Suzie is a new British label that features unique and quirky animal illustrations, and is the result of an ingenious collaboration between designer Polly Vickery and illustrator Louise Boulter. Together they create hand printed and original designs with a fashion edge. Whimsical animal related tales are at the heart of the collection and you are sure to find a t-shirt or top that you love.

This season sees their unique spin on crazy animal characters better than ever: we like the motorbiking squirrel, the wrap around snake t-shirt and our current favourite locket t-shirt with a rather sly looking fox inside. Inspiration for summer 2010 looks a lot like the darker side of fairy tales. New styles have been used this season - the clasic t-shirt, loose fit t's, racer back vests and curved crop tops.

Stitch'n'Bitch is back at Forty Five!

Due to popular demand, we have re-instated Stitch'n'Bitch!

Now meeting on the first Wednesday of every month, it's the perfect place for people that love to craft.

We meet from 7pm - 9pm, in the Forty Five Coffee Shop - so you can enjoy the fabulous cakes, hot chocolates and ice creams, whilst getting stuck in to your crafting activity and having a good ol' gossip.

Stitch'n'Bitch is free to attend, and we love meeting new people. We have members that do all sorts of crafts, including knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, card making, jewellery making, customising clothing and more! All types of craft welcome and all levels welcome - just pop along any time from 7, with anything from a ball of wool to a full blown crafty project, and join in the fun.

We're very excited to be taking part in Plymouth Univesity Student Union's Ethical Threads Fashion Show! We'll be showing off a selection of our tasty vintage clothing on the catwalk alongside other local ethical brands like Surfers Against Sewage Pants to Poverty and Faux Couture. We'll be giving away our Forty Five vintage totes with every vintage purchase made on the evening, with a special discount off our normal prices.

This seasons essential ~ the bodysuit ~ is now in store. We have a selection of one-off vintage deadstock from the iconic Mary Quant. These little beauties are a flash out of the 80s, and although they are vintage, they have never been worn (all packets are sealed hygeine freaks!).

Vacant first appeared in the early part of 2004 like a controllable virus on the streets of London. Firstly infecting a small but uber cool crowd, the brand started to spread uncontrollably across the UK and it soon became clear that we were facing something of epidemic proportions!

Masses of Dephect has recently arrived here at Forty Five.

'As well as being a clothing brand, Dephect is a way of life for a group of friends from London with a healthy appetite for creativity. Growing up as skateboarders in the early 90’s led to participation in other alternative UK scenes, such as snowboarding, BMX and graffiti. With roots that stem from being immersed in hip-hop from a young age, we were always aware of the influence we drew from art and music. This proceeded to open up the world of art and graphic design as a whole, and a love for all kinds of music.

The simple fact is we do this because we love it, and we are lucky enough to be able to do it for a living. We try to work with our friends on most aspects of what we do, from graphic design to garment design and photography to beat making. Working with friends provides a good source of inspiration and a mutual understanding of what Dephect is and where we are headed.
Dephect is solely owned and run by the people who founded it back in 1998; it has grown from an idea in our bedrooms to a creative outlet for a constantly growing army of friends and allies. A decade down the line and our focus is as clear as ever; to continue developing as a brand, but without losing site of our roots.'

We've just taken delivery of some super cute new babywear from new Devon based brand ~ Woolly Soup. All Woolly Soup's clothing and accessories are made using reclaimed fabrics and accessories, and dyed using natural ingredients like onion skins.

All the items are handmade, or customised by hand so each garment or toy is slightly different from the rest. We especially like the squeaky teds, so cute!

Individual, environmentally friendly and made with natural ingredients ~ what's not to like? In the collection we have babygrows, baby sleeping bags, squeaky teds and crinkle dogs.
